Mentioned in article Mercury newspaper 31 Oct 1870, witness in a court case - " Benami White, sworn, said he was a labourer employed at the Slaughter House. He was employed there in February, 1869, and saw the defendant there during that month. "

Benami White was convicted at York Ass for burglary. Record states 10yr sentence. 2nd conviction. Transported per the ship 'China'. Assigned to Norfolk Island (east of NSW coast) and then transferred to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Tory' June 1847. Aged 32yrs; married; grocer; 5'6 1/4"; dk brown hair; grey eyes. Native Place - Leeds. Father: Benjamin. At native place. Sisters: Mary, Anne, Charlotte Wife: Sarah Brother: Norfolk Island. 22/03/1847: Neglect of duty - 14 days solitary. VDL: Ticket of Leave Conditional Pardon 01/08/1854 Certified Free 28/07/1855 Note on Conduct record: Enquiry from Mr. Benjamin White, ....., School Close, Leeds. 26/07/1864: Note - Benami White presented at office .......
