Warwickshire assizes ATTACK on Mr. DUGDALE'S GAMEKEEPERS. Joseph alias Warren (aged 23), William Ireland (28), John Mogford, Thos. Darlistone (23), William Goldby (26), John Mellor (25), John Squelch (29), John White (36), Henry White (25), David White (1?)), and James White (27), four brothers, were arraigned on an indictment, charging the first-named prisoner with having, on the night the 19th December last, at Merevale, feloniously and maliciously fired at Robert Hood and three others, gamekeepers of D. S. Dugdale, Esq., with with intent kill and murder them; and the other ten prisoners with aiding and abetting the said Joseph Warren. second indictment charged the prisoners with the misdemeanor of being found armed at night, for the purpose of destroying game and a third, with stealing poultry, the same night, from the premises of Mr. Alcock, at Mancetter. Joseph White, another of the same family the four four prisoners of that name, was also charged with the above offences, but has eluded apprehension; and Joseph Cross, an accomplice, was admitted King's evidence. The prisoners, who were eleven remarkably powerful, active, young men, were tried on the capital charge; ... David was born in 1809 as his age is listed as 20 years old on the Convict assignment listing out to Kissing Point, NSW from the Layton voyage in 1829. His brothers John (33) and Henry (24) are also listed along with Joseph Warren (24) who was sent to Rev. Thomas Hassell out at his Denbigh estate near Camden NSW. David is assigned to either a Robert Hicks or Roberts Wicks.
David White was an accomplice of Joseph Warren when they robbed the Dugdale Estate in Warwickshire. They were tried and convicted and all sent to NSW to serve out their sentences. The two other White brothers on the Layton were involved as well.
