George White was transported on the George The Third, departing 12th Dec 1834 and arriving 12th Mar 1835 with 220 passengers.
Built at Deptford, England in 1810. 394 tons, 114 feet length, 28 feet 3 inches beam. Registered at the Port of London. George III, was wrecked on reefs at the south-eastern entrance to the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on 12 March 1835 near the end of a voyage from Woolwich to Hobart Town. 133 of 220 male convicts on board lost their lives, 81 survived, one being a 10yr old boy. Only five of the 88 crew, guards and their families were drowned. Firearms had been discharged to keep the convicts below decks while the latter were being evacuated.

He died of senile decay and heart failure on 23 December 1902 and is buried on 27 December 1902 at the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin.
According to George's Conduct Record CON 31/1/47 he was convicted of robbing a wagon. George was given a Ticket of Leave in Hobart HO 10/39 from Find My Past NSW and Tasmania Settlers and Convicts Records 1787-1850. He is documented as being a free man in 1840, Record HO 10/40 Find My Past NSW and Tasmania Settlers and Convicts 1787-1859. George married Elizabeth Allen at St John's Church, New Town, Hobart, Tasmania on 28 April 1845. He and Elizabeth moved to Melbourne sometime before 1853. Sometime in the 1860s they moved to new Zealand. George died 23 December 1902 and was buried in Plot 12, Block 16 Southern Cemetery, Dunedin on 27 December 1902. The records say that he was in New Zealand for 40 years.
