Irish Convict Database, by Peter Mayberry. James White, age on arrival, 35, per Canada (3) 1815, Tried Roscommon, 1814, Life. DOB, 1780, native of Roscommon. Labourer. ---------------------------------------------------- Saturday last the assizes of Roscommon terminated. They were unusually thronged, and the press of so heavy in the Crown Court, that the above persons, on various charges, chiefly Threshing, are over for trial to the April, when, it is understood, Commission will sit, for the purpose. They are admitted to bail. Nine unhappy men were convicted of Threshing, &c. of whom John Beirne, 70 years of age, and before, transported, and suffered his sentence, his son, a young lad, three brothers of the name White, and Caslin and Connell, are to be transported for life, and two brothers, Farralls, for seven years. ... and Mathias Rourke, for uttering forged notes, charged also with horse stealing, are likewise to be transported for the last mentioned term.
