On Saturday afternoon Mr Justice Abbot arrived in this city from Winchester, and opened the commission for holding the Assizes for the county, the business of which commences this day. The following prisoners (sixty-eight in number) are on our calendar: … John White, for breaking into the house of Mr J. Rawlings, Trowbridge, and stealing two pieces of kerseymere. ...Salisbury Journal, 9 Mar 1818 John White, for a burglary in the house of John Rawlings, at Trowbridge. Salisbury Journal, 16 Mar 1818. Nineteen convicts were on Thursday removed from Fisherton gaol, and put on board the Laurel hulk at Gosport, Salisbury Journal, 25 May 1818 HO 9-9-1 Records of Laurel, Hardy and York Hulks, in Portsmouth Harbour, 1805-1831, page 43. Received from Wiltshire May 1818, (19 prisoners) Jno. White, age 41, convicted at Wilts Assizes for a felony, 7 March 1818, sentenced to transportation for 7 years. Discharged (to ship) 30 June 1818, NSW.
