County Antrim Assizes. White and Thomas Mullan, for stealing a silver watch, the property of Wm. M‘Roberts. William M*Roberts—Had arrived in Belfast by the coach, when was decoyed into Cotton-court by the prisoners; White took up his bundle and was making off with it, when witness pursued and got hold of him, and this moment Mullan snatched his watch, with which got off witness took White to the police-office did not recover his watch; he had drank a pint of beer in company with the prisoners immediately before this. —Guilty to be transported 7 years. Belfast Commercial Chronicle, 22 July 1826. On Monday, fifteen convicts under rule of transportation, passed through this town with an escort of the 50th regiment, their route from Carrickfergus to the hulks at Dunleary, there to embark for New South Wales. The under-mentioned are from Belfast, Thos. Morrison, William White, Thos. Mullan, James Gilchrist, Joseph Fleming, James Cowan, James Loughry, James Gorman, James Low, and David Ker. His description is.. 5 ft 4 inches ,dark brown to grey hair ,sallow complexion. He gained a Ticket of Leave in 1831 !!
I found that William is not mentioned to be on this ship along with another 120 odd convicts . Think this is an oversight as so many convict are missing from this list .
