Thomas WHITTAKER was convicted at the Preston Q.S, Lancaster, England on 21 Feb 1850. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), Australia per the ship 'Lady Montagu', departing Plymouth on 9 Aug 1852 for arrival at Hobart on 9 Dec 1852. Thomas died on board this voyage on 19 Nov 1852 (put on sick list 13/10/52 cause documented in Medical Journal as diarrhoea; aged 32 yrs. (ref. for above details, Tas Archives)
