Committed to the Castle since our last, John Whittle, charged with stealing mare, the property of James Smith, Shipley, near Bradford, farmer. Yorkshire Gazette, 8 May 1830. YORK CASTLE.—Tuesday, July 27.John Whittle, (20.) charged with stealing a mare, the property of James Smith, of Shipley. Guilty. Hull Packet, 3 Aug 1830. Judgment of death was then recorded against William Gray, for Arson ; John Whittle, Stephen Jones, and Wm. Moss, for horse-stealing; and Joseph Spencer for Burglary. Sheffield Independent, 31 July 1830.
MEMORANDUM. THE names of J. Whitting alias John Whittle, per Exmouth, and J. Tompson alias Thomas Thompson, per Henry Porcher, have been erroneously inserted in the Notice of the 22nd January, and published in the Government Gazettes of the 23rd and 30th, pages 102 and 131, instead of Thomas Wetton, per Exmouth, and Archibald Thompson, per Henry Porcher (2).
