Per "Pilot", 1817; of Appin. 1824 Jul 24 Memorial (Fiche 3116; 4/1840A No.1049 pp.243-6) 1825 Nov 25 On list of persons who have received orders for grants of land (Fiche 3266; 9/2652 p.104); on list of lands granted & reserved by Sir Thomas Brisbane (Fiche 3269; 9/2740 p.32) -------------------------------------------------- Petition That your Excellency’s Petitioner arrived in this Colony per the Ship Pilot in the year 1817, under sentence of Transportation for seven years, which sentence Petitioner has faithfully fulfilled. That your Excellency’s Petitioner is married and is capable of clearing a Farm should your Excellency be pleased to grant him one. Petitioner prays your Excellency will be graciously pleased to take hin in to yur Excellency’s humane consideration and grant him a portion of Land, and every exertion will be immediately made to clear and cultivate the same. And Petitioner will ever pray. Connor Wholaghan. I certify that I have received an excellent character of the Petitioner from several repuatable settlers who have known him for many years; and that he has never been before me either as Compt. Or Defendant, during my residence in this district and I therefore believe he is an honest , sober industrious & well behaved man, likely to improve any land that may be assigned to him. Signed, Wm. I beg most earnestly to recommend this Petitioner to His Excellency’s favourable consideration having found him during the whole of his service of eight years a most sober industrious & trustworthy man.
