Reference: HO 17/75/129 Description: Prisoner name: George Wicks. Court and date of trial: Central Criminal Court October 1837. Crime: Larceny - a handkerchief worth 2/- from Sarah Atkinson and Ann Bartley. Initial sentence: Seven years transportation. Gaoler's report: Convicted before. Annotated: Nil; inform Mr Agleonby that he has been convicted before. Petitioner(s): Jeremiah Wicks, the prisoner's father, of Regents Park, and 227 people. Jeremiah Wicks and 404 people. Mr Agleonby. Grounds for clemency: A very severe sentence for a boy of only 11; he should be removed to the penitentiary. Additional Information: Held on the "Euryalus" hulk.
