Timothy Smith, Wm. Wigdell, Wm. Perring were tried for stealing a boat called "the blue eyed maid " from the brig Duke of York, in March last, while she was lying off Maria Island taking in ballast. The prisoners took the boat with the intention of making their escape from the Colony. They were all found Guilty. (Hobart Town Gazette 30 Dec 1826, p. 2.)
