Morning Advertiser London, England 8 Aug 1828 John Wigg, a native of Lock’s Fields, and James Atkinson, of Walworth, who have long been known to the Police as successful Cracksmen, and who have been lkong wanted for an entry made at Snow's Fields, were taken coming out of a house close to Mr. Briant's, the Horns at Kennington ; the property was secured, and other articles which they could not well account for wsere found in their possession. T. Bennett, Esq. who sat at Union hall, deferred the examination until this morning. Saint James's Chronicle London, England 6 Jan 1829 POLICE —J. Atkinson and John Wigg, for stealing from the house of A. Myers, at Lambeth, a quantity of wearing apparel. James Atkinson arrived VDL per 'Surrey/Surry 1829' ______________________ John Wigg was listed as 24 years old on arrival. Place of Birth: Camberwell, Surrey. John was 5'6¼" tall, brown eyes, dark brown hair, EJ above elbow joint rt arm. FM Star 2 Trees & Heart above elbow joint left arm - listed as single and married with a wife at Walworth. 13/12/1830 Launceston Advertiser: Friday, 10th. — John Wigg, (asssigned to Mr. G. Walker) drunk and disorderly — reprimanded. 13/2/1834 Launceston Advertiser: SUPREME COURT, CRIMINAL SIDE, LAUNCESTON, FEB 1834 Before Mr. Justice Montagu, and the usual Military Jury, JOHN WIGG and BENJAMIN COX, for burglary in the dwelling-house of William Chinn; guilty — death recorded. 21/7/1840 Colonial Times, Hobart: John Wigg, a prisoner in the public works, was charged by Mr. Pattison with defrauding him of two dollars, which was fully substantiated. He was sentenced to twelve months hard labour in chains. 17/3/1842: TOL (newspaper date). 13/1/1849: CP 12/3/1849: John Wigg departed Launceston to Adelaide per 'Shamrock'. 2/4/1849: Newspaper lists John Wigg arriving in Steerage on Bride from Hobart. 13/10/1851 South Australian Register: Unclaimed letter at the Post Office.
