Ref: HO 17/67/85 2 individual petitions (the prisoner and Fred Rawlinson) on behalf of James Wilcock convicted at Lancashire General Quarter Sessions held at Kirkdale in November 1821 of receiving stolen lead. Grounds for clemency: innocent of the charge. Main prosecution witness was unworthy of credit. Lived in Liverpool where the offence was committed for more than ten years and is of impeccable character. Has a wife and five children dependent upon him for support. They are in poverty and distressed. Two men have been transported whose evidence helped to convict the prisoner. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: 'Nil.'
