Thomas Wilcox, Joseph Jotiffe, William Balcomb, charged on the oaths of Zadick. Leven, Esq. and olhers, on suspicion of having feloniously stolen two geldings, a saddle, and other articles, the property of the said Z. Leven. — Guilty — Death. Morning Post, 28 Mar 1823. Thomas Wilcox, Joseph Jeliffe, and Wm. Balcomb, were, indicted for stealing, at New Fishbourne, on the bill of December last, two horses, with their gear,. the property of Z. Leven, Esq. be prisoners are part of a desperate gang of horse stealers who have long infested the neighbourhood of Chichester, -in the vicinity of which the proseoutor resides. The prisoner Jeliffe had been brought up a horse jockey—the other prisoners were also persons long known in the horse-flesh line. British Neptune, 30 March 1823.
