James Weldon was listed as 'WILDON' on the Irish Convicts database - there are records under both names. James was 22 years old on arrival and was transported the felony of 'Jaunting car'. (A jaunting car is a light two-wheeled carriage for a single horse, in its most common form with seats for two or four persons placed back to back, with the foot-boards projecting over the wheels. It was the typical conveyance for persons in Ireland at one time). Perhaps they meant that he stole it. Conduct Record in VDL: Empty. James was 5'3 1/2" tall, brown hair, light grey eyes, scar on left temple. 5/11/1827: COF
