1833: On arrival in VDL, he was listed as 20 years old, and a labourer from Edinburgh. He was 5'4½" tall, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes, and had several tattoos that are described in detail on his record (see http://search.archives.tas.gov.au/ImageViewer/image_viewer.htm?CON18-1-9,115). 1835: Muster - he was assigned to Public Works (see New South Wales and Tasmania, Australia Convict Musters, 1806-1849).

Born Edinburgh. Lived Water Court, Castle Wynd, Edinburgh. Confessed guilty along with friend George Caddens age 14. Sent to prison hulk 'Retribution' at Woolwich 11 Aug 1831. Sentenced to 7 years transportation to Van Diemen's Land on 'Isabella' 11 Jul 1833.
