War Office Records. Registers Court Martial. https://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-1606814777/view Corporal John Wilkinson, Private Robt. Mantle, Private Giles Seddon, and Corporal John Whalley, 2nd Drn Guards Regt, Tried at Guines, France, 28 Sep 1818, for Burglariously breaking into a dwelling house & stealing Goods and money. All Sentenced to be hanged by the Court, But in consequence of the Duke of Wellington’s recommendation, it was Commuted for Transportation as a Felons for Life. Case sent 26 Nov 1818 for confirmation before the Prince Regent.
There were also seven men who had been court-martialled in Guines, France for house breaking - William Kelly, Robert Mantle, Alexander Pollock, Giles Seddon, John Whalley and John Wilkinson. https://www.jenwilletts.com/convict_ship_canada_1819.htm
