19/10/1833 Staffordshire Advertiser Staffordshire, England: William Broom was charged with stealing a bridle, the value of 4s. the property of Phineas Bullock, at Wolverhampton. The prisoner said he was in the habit of buying and selling old harness, and he believed he had the bridle in question from a man named George Stacey : but he did not produce any witness in corroboration of this statement. Guilty.__There was a second indictment, charging him with stealing a crupper, the property of Timothy Ford. The prisoner had sold the crupper as well as the bridle, to Mr. Samuel Shotton the horse-dealer, at two different times, about a week apart. His defence on the second charge was the same as on the first. Guilty. A previous conviction in 1832, for stealing harness, was proved. To be transported seven years. William Broom was 31 years old on arrival - he could read and write, was married with 2 male and 2 female children. Native Place: Shropshire. Occupations: Kitchen gardener/farm servant. William was 5'6½" tall, dark, ruddy and freckled complexion, dark brown hair, dark hazel eyes, scar right side of top of foreead, raised mole on forehead, scar tip of chin, breast hairy, scar back of right hand, circular scar ball of left thumb, scar back of left wrist. 27/11/1837: TOL Patrick Plains 1839: TOL Patricks Plains 21/9/1841: COF
