William was literate, single, 5'8" tall, fresh complexion, brown hair, no chiskers, grey eyes, scar on forefinger of right hand, ditto on left hand, scar under lower lip right side, freckled. Mother: Mary Brother: John Sister: Jane. 15/5/1848: Probation Expired. 8.2.1853: TOL 2/11/1855: CP C1860: Married Elizabeth Brodie/Gardiner {she had married Charles Gardiner, Moffatt 1838} (Elizabeth & Henry 1847). 2 children with Charles Gardiner. Children with William Henshaw: Elizabeth Louisa c.1860 - married Hugh Stevenson in 1879; died in 1953, aged 92. John c.1861 - married Elizabeth Mary Woodward in 1890; died in Melbourne in 1944. Jane Ellen 30/11/1864 (William listed as a sawyer at Irish Town) - married Charles Woodward in 1886; separated; married Patrick Purcell in 1906; died at North Hobart in 1944. 19/7/1906: William died, aged 83. 20/7/1906 Hobart Mercury: DEATHS. HENSHAW. - On July 19, 1906, at No. 13 Sun street, William Henshaw (late of Port Cygnet), aged 83 years. Funeral will leave the above address for Cornelian Bay Cemetery at 2.30 To-Morrow (Saturday) Afternoon.
