William Mason was 23 years old on arrival and his crime is listed as "Being a Capital Respite" which means he was sentenced to death, but was transported instead. His actual crime is not listed. 1830: Assigned to B Thomas 1832: Assigned to J Thomas 1833-35: Assigned to Captain Thomas. 19/4/1839: CP 24/11/1842: Free Pardon. 1844: Married Ellen Bayle (Hindostan 1839) they seem to have had no children. William was somewhat of a Hotelier, 23/2/1838 held the licence of the Black Swan at Launceston, 3/9/1852 the Traveller's Rest at Glenorchy and then the Berridale Inn at Glenorchy. 8/6/1862: At his residence the Berridale Inn, Glenorchy, William Mason aged 65 years. No mention of family, on friends respectfully invited to attend.
