William MOLLOWNEY/MALONEY was convicted at Tipperary, Ireland on 19 Oct 1841 for stealing oats. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), Australia per the ship 'Isabella Watson' 1842. Ship Surgeon's report: "very good on board". Aged 26yrs; Roman Catholic; farm labourer; not literate; 5'9" height; married man - wife Mary; 2 children. Brothers: Paddy, Thomas & John Sister: Peggy N.B. Wife Mary MALONEY/MOLLOWNEY (nee TIGHE) was later transported herself, per the 'Blackfair' in 1851. Not noted on records where the children are.
