Convict Notes
William Pointon was 26 years old on arrival and was transported for ‘stealing 18 dozen pigeons’. William was born near Hitchin (as were cousins Frederick and Henry Pointon per ‘Sarah 1836’) they were both tried on 17/10/1836 and William was tried 13/10/1834 – all for stealing pigeons. Then there was Frederick and Henry’s brother, Thomas Pointon who was transported later aboard the Lady Raffles 1841 William was 5’8 ½” tall, dark reddish brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, illiterate, married - wife elizabeth at whittle; f. & m. william at np. a haggler; 3 brothers: joseph, richard, edward; 4 s. sarah, elizabeth, phoebe, ann, kitty; 2 in London. 1835: Transported to Port Arthur. 2/10/1839: TOL 1841: Free Certificate
