From National Archives, Kew: Reference: HO 52/6/104 Description: Folio 219. Letter from [Charles Bithrey], Bedford Post Office, [Bedfordshire], to Francis Freeling. He writes that 9 men were put in prison the previous night under an escort of Stotfold special constables for rioting and stealing from a house. A person had been taken up for arson at a farm in Wooton [Wootton] but was later released. Date: 1830 Dec 5 (see https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C10111836).

(I think this is to get access to money earned as a convict).
