William Sell was convicted at Cambridge on 08/04/1833 for stealing a handkerchief from the person. He had previously been convicted for pick pocketing (12mths prison at Cambridge) and fined for stealing walnuts. Life sentence. Transported to Van Diemens Land on the 'Maffatt' arriving 1834. Gaol Report: character bad Hulk Report: bad Ship's Surgeon's Report: behaved well Single man, 24yrs of age; Native Place: Basingbourn; grey eyes; black hair; 5'9"; wheelwright. Assigned to Port Arthur Penal settlement. Died at Port Arthur 09/07/1835.
