Certificate of Freedom, and Tickets of leave, have been issued to the undermentioned persons during the last week: Certificates: ...William Shepherd, Dromedary. ... Hobart Town Gazette, 27 May 1826 William Shepherd was tried and convicted of burglariously breaking and entering the dwelling-house of Mr Ralph Compton at Norfolk plains, in the night of the 19th of November last, and stealing therein three gallons of wine, value 15s., a cask, value 8s., and a tea kettle value 8s., the property of Mr Compton. The prisoner having been Mr Compton’s servant was readily identified. Hobart Town Courier, 20 Oct 1827. Salisbury. The general sessions for the peace for this city were holden at the Council Chamber on Thursday last, before the Worshipful Mayor, the Deputy Recorder, and other Magistrates - William Shepherd (a youth of bad character, only 18 years of age), was convicted of stealing a great coat, the property of Jas. Read, and sentenced to seven years transportation. Salisbury Journal, 11 Jan 1819. Sixteen male convicts were removed from Fisherton Gaol on Thursday last and put on board the Laurell Hulk, in Gosport harbour. SWJ, 3 May 1819.
