1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

William Startin was 15 years old when convicted. WILLIAM STARTIN, Theft > pocketpicking, 16th February 1832. WILLIAM STARTIN was indicted for stealing, on the 12th of January , 1 handkerchief, value 5s., the goods of William Rose Stephenson , from his person. WILLIAM ROSE STEPHENSON . I live in Essex. On the 10th of January, about one o'clock, I was in Cheapside , and felt a hand at my pocket - I turned round, and saw the prisoner close at my elbow, with my handkerchief in his hand - I secured him; I dropped my umbrella, and while I did that I lost sight of my handkerchief - I kept the prisoner till the officer came; I did not take my umbrella up. WILLIAM JONES . I am a coach-maker, and live at Chester. I saw the prisoner and another boy escaping out of a crowd at the end of Wood-street; I saw the other boy draw the handkerchief - I suppose he took it from the prisoner's hand; I did not see it taken from the prosecutor; the prisoner was in the prosecutor's hands, trying to get from him, when the other went off with the handkerchief. JOHN LAWS . I received the prisoner in charge. GUILTY . Aged 15. - Transported for Life. 1841: TOL, Port Macquarie 1/6/1845: CP 3/9/1850: aged 33 – Married Charlotte Clamtree (1832-1904) at Tononee, NSW. They had 1 son Thomas, born 11/1/1853. 6/6/1889: William died at Taree and was buried at the Old St John’s churchyard, Nabiac, NSW. Charlotte was 57 when William died, she then married George Spooner (1832-1916) who arrived as an assisted emigrant, with his wife, Caroline Bareham (1837-1883).
