Convict Notes
In the colony, William married Jane McManus, July 5th 1843 at St Matthews, Windsor, New South Wales. Jane was the daughter of James McManis (son of the the First Fleet Marine James McManis and the First Fleet Convict, Jane Poole, 'Charlotte', 1788) and his wife Lucy Bradley (daughter of the First Fleet Convict James Bradley, 'Scarborough', 1788 and the Third Fleet Convict, Sarah Barnes, 'Mary Anne, 1791). Therefore Jane was the granddaughter of three early convicts. William and Jane raised a large family, 8 children born between 1844 and 1854. Jane died aged only 50 but William lived to be 77.
