Summary of my research into Emanuel Williams to date: Emanuel Williams is my 2nd great-granduncle. His sister, Rachel Beatrice Ann Williams, is my 2nd great-grandmother. She married George Henry SAWARD in 1853. George and Rachel and later Emanuel were pioneers, and land owners, around Montagu Tasmania. At age 20 Emanuel Williams was transported to Van Diemen's Land, departing London, on Emily, 28 Jun 1842. His family followed later, arriving 9 Nov 1842. Family is: John Williams, wife Rose Hannah William, children Sarah, Rachael and Henry. Emanuel gained at ticket of leave 1 Apr 1848, and probably freedom was granted 24 August 1852. By July 1857, Emanuel Williams was living in Circular Head. By 1870 Emanuel the 1842 convict owned 50 acres at Montagu Van Diemen's land.
