Family connections for Frances (Williams) are: WILLIAMS Frances (Williams) was tried for burglary at Mold Flintshire Assizes Wales, sentenced to Life/7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 9months on First Fleet ship PRINCE OF WALES. She had a first (1of4) relationship with Robert (Ryan). She arrived on Norfolk Island on 13 3 1790 on HMS SIRIUS, probably with her daughter-(the date of its sinking on reef near Kingston Pier Slaughter Bay). She is recorded as being supported by private (Ryan) with 2children on Norfolk Island in 1794. She left Norfolk Island on 6 11 1794 on DAEDALUS to Port Jackson? (became Free by Servitude by 1795) & returned on 3 4 1796 on SUPPLY.>>> [Some details taken from this Website] Robert (Ryan) was born in 1758 in Ireland & became a nailer & marine. He enlisted as a marine about 1778 at Armagh Ireland & arrived in NSW as a marine on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 9months on First Fleet ship PRINCE OF WALESalso; he was 5'5" tall-on the voyage he received 175 of 300lashes for disobeying orders. He went to Norfolk Island to be a settler in 1791. He was granted 60acres at Willoughby, Sydney on 28 1 1792. [he was also recorded as being discharged as a marine in Sydney on 10 12 1791 & arriving on Norfolk Island in January 1792] He is recorded as supporting his spouse & 2children on Norfolk Island in 1794. He enlisted in NSW Corps in Sydney following farming failures on 10 10 1794 & was on Norfolk Island on 16 10 1795. In 1798 he was detached to (Townson)s company. In 1799 he was in Sydney & was detached to (McArthur)a company in 1800. In April 1800 he was granted 120acres at Willoughby Sydney Cove which he later sold. In 1801 he was again on Norfolk Island with (Townson)s company until detached to (Grose)s company in 1804 at Newcastle & again to (Townson)s company while there. In 1805 he was detached to (Grosser)s company until transferred to (Lewis)s company in 1808. In 1809 he was with 6Company & returned to UK on 10 4 1810 on HMS DROMEDARY where he was discharged in August 1811. [Ref:'Exiled...' states he was still listed with NSW Corps in 1816] Robert (Ryan) & Frances (Williams) produced 4children: 1.Sarah (Ryan) was born in 1789 at Port Jackson & baptised on 16 6 1789 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She was probably taken to Norfolk Island by her mother, arriving on 13 3 1790 on HMS SIRIUS. She is recorded as being supported by private (Ryan) on Norfolk Island in 1794. She was recorded in 1805 at Norfolk Island muster. She may have been adopted by Noah (Mortimor) about this time. She left Norfolk Island on 25 12 1807 with her mother as part of the first evacuation on HMS PORPOISE to Derwent Tasmania, arriving on 17 1 1808 & settled at Queens Borough/Sandy Bay. She was recorded as off stores at Hobart Town on 2 10 1818. In 1824 she w/her mother & her husband were charged with receiving stolen sheep, she appears to not have been penalised. .. 2.Jane (Ryan) was born on 20 8 1793 & baptised on 6 5 1804 age10 on Norfolk Island. She was recorded as off stores at Hobart Town on 2 10 1818. In 1824 she w/her husband & daughter Sarah were charged with receiving stolen sheep & she was sentenced to 14years at Macquarie Harbour: moved elewhere in 1833: her Conditional Pardon was issued in August 1836.>>> ..William (Davis) arrived at Port Phillip (now Victoria) on 4 10 1803 after a voyage of 7+months on OCEAN (supply ship with HMS CALCUTTA) (an expedition that settled in Tasmania) seemingly the only convict on board. He probably camped at what is now Sorrento/Sullivans Bay & went on HMS LADY NELSON to Risdon Derwent Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) on 13 12 1803, arriving on 15 2 1804. He is also described as a marine & a Corporal in 1812. In 1813 he was granted 180acres at Staffa/Bagdad. [A William (Davis) is listed as a private 48th Regiment at Macquarie Harbour VDL from 24 6 1823-24 9 1823] In 1824 he w/his wife & stepdaughter Sarah were charged with receiving stolen sheep & he was sentenced to 14years at Macquarie Harbour: moved elewhere in 1833: Conditional Pardon issued August 1836. He is recorded at Black Brush in 1843 census. She may have married at age16 Roger (Connor) farmer on 8 1 1810 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She was recorded as off stores at Hobart Town on 2 10 1818. [She is recorded perhaps incorrectly as dying on 6 11 1794] ..Roger (Connor) was born in 1778 in England. He arrived in NSW with his mother in 1793 on NEPTUNE. He enlisted in NSW Corps on 25 11 1800 as a private & was detached to (Townson)s company with which he went to Norfolk Island in 1801/2. In 1805 he transferred to (Grose)s company until his discharge in 1808. He arrived on Norfolk Island on HMS SIRIUS on 13 3 1790 (the date of its sinking on reef near Kingston Pier Slaughter Bay) where he maintained himself by labouring on a small plot of land. About 1792 he became Free by Servitude & left Norfolk Island on 6 11 1794 on DAEDALUS for Sydney: he then left Australia on 18 9 1795 on ENDEAVOUR for India via New Zealand & Norfolk Island intending to make his way to England probably; bad weather caused the unseaworthy ship to sink/be scuttled at Dusky Sound in Facile Harbour NZ & he was taken back to Norfolk Island on RESOURCE/PROVIDENCE (ship found where ENDEAVOUR was marooned) arriving in December 1795. He bought 10acres in 1796, perhaps part of plot no.72 on southwest side of Queensborough. He married secondly Mary (Tuck) on 25 12 1807 on Norfolk Island. He became a constable & is recorded as a settler/landowner came free off stores with a wife & child on Norfolk Island in February 1805. He left Norfolk Island on 25 12 1807 with his family as part of the first evacuation (for which volunteers apparantly had been called with appropriate compensation offerred & for which he may have tried to decline as some successful farmers were asked to stay) on HMS PORPOISE to Derwent Tasmania, arriving on 17 1 1808; he settled at Queens Borough/Sandy Bay. A record shows him as Edward (Cropper) with 6 children (2of them named (Ryan)) on HMS PORPOISE in 1807 travelling to Derwent Tasmania, arriving on 17 1 1808; where he later took up a grant of 20acres at Sandy Bay. He is recorded as on stores at Hobart Town on 2 10 1818. He became a constable in 1819 & was dismissed in 1820 for sleeping on duty. He was granted 50acres at Drummond in 1823 which he did not take up. He owned 20acres at Queensborough & 50acres at Drummond/Brighton. He lost his house to fire in 1824 & became a pauper. He produced at least 2children in his lifetime. He was granted land at New Town/Glenorchy. He may have adopted the children of Frances (Williams). He was recorded in 1811 at Hobart Town Tasmania. He was recorded at Hobart Town on 2 10 1818 as off stores. He was Free by Servitude by 1822. He was living with Mary (Falconer) in 1825 in a hut in Jericho district & with James (Williams/Ryan)-said to be his adopted son-from Norfolk Island.
