Crime: Stealing one horse property of Richard Valentine, his employer at Upottery. Initial sentence: Seven years transportation. Petitioner(s): Reverend J G Copleston, Rector of Offwell [Devon] and Vicar of Up Ottery, the convict's parish undersigned by Reverend William Michell, Rector of Cotleigh [Devon] and including a character reference from former employer George Pollard.
