John Williams, indicted for robbing the house of Thomas Armstrong of a castor hat, 21 yards broad cloth, and handkerchief. ~ Thomas Armstrong—ls a tailor; was out from home at work; prisoner was with him ; prisoner made an excuse to return home, having, as he said, a sore finger; in witness's absence his house was robbed of the above articles, being value for two pounds seventeen shillings ; prisoner eloped on same day ; witness saw prisoner in Magistrates’ office, Armagh, and the hat was taken from him John Dougherty—Is apprentice to Thomas Armstrong ; wrought on the board with prisoner as a tailor ; knows of his master being robbed ; knows prisoner eloped from his service ; found him in Armagh, with the hat which had been taken from his master.—Guilty ; transportation for 7 Years.
