John WILLIAMS (also k/a Stephen PARROTT) was convicted at the CCC, London on 15 Dec 1845 for stealing a silk handkerchief. Previous stealing offences. 10yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Palmyra' arriving 23 Aug 1846. (Note 4 persons named John Williams on this voyage) Aged 24yrs; 5'3"; leather tanner & dresser; Protestant; can read & write. Native place of birth: B..... Brothers: Benjamin, Robert Sister: Emma Assigned to work services in the Colony. 18mths Probation Period. 25 March 1851: Ticket of Leave granted. 15 Nov 1851: Ticket of Leave revoked. 1855: Absconded. 6mths hard labour. 18 Dec 1866: Certificate of Freedom, Hobart.
