1845, 12 February: He was found guilty of assaulting Henry Jones and fined £3 (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON32-1-5$init=CON32-1-5p11). 1846, 6 May: He was committed for trial for assault and robbery. 1846, 25 June: He was convicted for "receiving a watch" and sentenced to serve an extra 18 months on his original sentence of transportation. Due to the "irregularity" of his trial, his sentence was remitted but he had his ToL taken away for 6 months (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON32-1-5$init=CON32-1-5p11).
1837, 6 October: At the Richmond Quarter Sessions, John Williams was sentenced to 7 years for "feloniously absconding" in September 1837 (he had several instances of absconding before this date) from a work gang, and recommended to be sent to Port Arthur for 3 years. The record shows he was at Port Arthur until 1841. There, he was punished numerous times by flogging and solitary confinement. 1841, 20 May: His Conduct Record says he was "en route to Launceston" (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON34-1-4$init=CON34-1-4P479). 1843, 13 October: John Williams was granted a Ticket of Leave (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON34-1-4$init=CON34-1-4P479)
1833, 11 March: TRIAL Trial papers relating to William Scott and John Williams for the crime of theft by housebreaking. Tried at High Court, Edinburgh. Accused: William Scott, son of William Scott, tailor, Verdict: Guilty, Verdict Comments: Guilty in terms of own confession, Sentence: Transportation - 14 years. Note: Case continued (see JC8/30, f.17r). Judgement was not passed in relation to Scott's confession during this trial but on his preceding trial with Joseph McEwan on the same day (see JC8/30, f.3v and JC26/1833/557). Accused: John Williams, Verdict: Guilty, Verdict Comments: Guilty in terms of own confession, Sentence: Transportation - 14 years. Note: Pannel cannot write (see National Records of Scotland; Reference JC26/1833/566). --00-- 1833, 1 April: John Williams, 15, convicted for housebreaking, was received from Edinburgh aboard the prison Hulk Justitia at Woolwich. He was sent from there for transportation on 11 June (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849). --00-- 1833: On arrival in VDL, he was listed as 18, single and a ropemaker.
