John Williams, a man of colour, and Gusto' Dangreen, were brought to the office by Pearkes, one of he principal officers ; the former charged with knowingly and falsely personating and assuming the character of an out-pensioner at Greenwich Hospital, by pretending to be a man of colour …. Morning Herald, 23 July 1817. Calendar of Prisoners. supposed to be due to him J. Williams and Gusto Dangreen, charged with feloniously assuming the name and character of Thos. Jacobs, in order to receive a sum of money supposed to be due to him as an out pensioner of Greenwich Hospital; and the said G. Dangreen with feloniously procuring the said John Williams to personate and falsely assume, the name and character of the said out pensioner, against the statute, &c. Williams, Death, reprieved. Dangreen, acquitted. Kentish Weekly Post, 12 Aug 1817.
