At Gloucester assizes, three criminals were capitally convicted, and received sentence of death : —Benjamin Davis, for breaking open the house of Joseph Jordan, and stealing a bed; —John Williams, for sheep-stealing —and James Okey for robbing Sarah Mills on the highway, in the parish of Stroud. ... Before the Judge left the town, he reprieved John Williams and James Okey but left Benjamin Davis for execution. Hereford Journal, 2 Aug 1787.
