Moreton Bay Record. Thomas Williams, Minstrel, tried at Bristol Q.S. 12 Jul 1824, transportation for 7 years, labourer. Colonial sentence, Gen Sess. Sydney, 30 Jun 1830, breaking into a house and staling wearing apparel. Sentence 3 years. Run 11 Oct 1830. Description: age 23, native of Bristol, 5ft 2 ¾ in, pock-pitted sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, religion- P.

17/7/1824 Bristol Mirror Bristol, England: Thomas Williams, for stealing a silver tea-pot, &C., from J. Kelson. Thomas Williams was listed as 19 years old on arrival. Native Place: Plymouth. Thomas was 5'2¼" tall, fair pockpitted complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, very well. Assigned to a Clearing Party. 30/6/1830: Convicted at Sydney General Sessions, for 'Breaking into a house and stealing wearing apparel - 3 years. Sent to Moreton Bay. 11/10/1830: At Moreton Bay - RUN, A labourer, absconded from Moreton Bay. Is not listed on NSW Gov. Convict Records. No further mentions found. ** Please note ** The entry by Denis Pember has been incorrectly added to this convict -- should be for the Thomas Williams who arrived per 'Grenada' 1821

Details added are incorrect. Thomas Williams born 1797 died 1858 and married Mary Ann Bankin is not the convict transported on the Minstrel. Thomas Williams b 1797 d 1858 Married Mary Ann Bankin was sentenced to 14 yrs on 10 Jan 1821 at Old Bailey and transported on the Granada.

In 1829 Thamas married Mary Ann Bankin. Mary Ann was the daughter of Richard Bankin (Convict, 1815, “Marquis of Wellington”) and his wife Prudence nèe Perkins. Mary Ann had arrived , with her sister, in the colony as a passenger on “Borneo’ 28th December 1828, their mother had died on the voyage. Mary Ann and Thomas had 8 children born between 1829 and 1846.
