Return of Persons convicted under the Provisions of 31 Vict. No. 12, during the week ending 10 June 1871. Thomas Williams at Green Ponds, per Mount Stuart Elphinstone, F.S., Offence-larceny, sentence-3 months, native place-Cheltenham, trade-pastrycook, age 53 yrs, 5 feet 6 inches high. Tasmania Police Gazette, 16th June 1871, p99. Prisoner, Thomas Williams or Wood, discharged from H M Gaol Hobart, per Mount Stuart Elphinstone, tried at Kempton on 10th June 1871, for larceny, received 3 months, native of Cheltenham, age 52 years, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark brown hair, F.S., middle finger (right) crippled. Removal of Convicts.—The undermentioned ten were on Tuesday removed from the county gaol to  Woolwich, preparatory to their exilement to the penal colonies, in accordance with their viz.— For life: Thomas Gardner and James Whitcomb, for the burglary and attempt at murder at Strensham mill; and Stephen Fudger, for a rape on Elizabeth Preece, at Acton Beauchamp.—For fifteen years: John Shelon, for sheep stealing, at Oldswinford; John Robinson, for maliciously stabbing Henry Eaton, at Oldswinford ; and Edwin Archer, for manslaughter, in having caused the death, by stabbing, of George Green, at Rouse Lench.—For ten years: John Brown for horse-stealing, at Yardley; John and John Meredith. Taylor, for a burglary at Berrow; and Thomas Williams. Worcester Herald, 1 April 1843.
