George Willison, Barnabas Metcalfe, Robert Lyon, James Hugill, and Thomas Hugill, tried at Assizes for the Co. at York, 5 July 1788, seven years. -------------------------------------------------------------- THURSDAY the Assizes were finished … at York, ... the following prisoners have had their trials, viz. William Braithwaite, of Staveley, guilty of sheep- stealing, sentence of death ; William fox, for stealing cloth, Robert Lion, for stealing linen, Barnabas Medcalf, for stealing corn, George Willison, for house-breaking, and James Hugill and Thomas Hugill, for stealing a parcel of linen-yarn, received sentence of transportation for seven years ; Leeds Intelligencer, 15 July 1788.
