After her arrival Ann was assigned to work for Mr John Oxley, the Surveyor-General of Lands, at Liverpool, and there Ann met William Hilliard (or Hillyard) (c1787-1835). The couple were given permission to marry at St Philips Church in August 1815 and Rev. Cowper officiated. Ann was FBS in 1822 and William received a Conditional Pardon in 1820. They had 9 children: Charlotte (c1817-1892)[marr 1853 Thomas Wilson]; Frances (c1818-?); William John (c1820-?); Sarah (c1822-?); John (c1825-?); Henry (or Harry) (c1826-1914)[marr Catherine Irene Jones]; Frances Elizabeth (c1828-1885)[marr 1847 Benjamin Cooper/ Lancaster]; James Richard (c1830-1851); and Robert James (c1833-1912)[marr 1) 1857 Eliza Jane Parker 2) 1863 Jane Robbins 3) 1884 Mary Jane Watters/Walters].
