Between (at least) 1854 and 1857 Frederick and Sarah Wilson resided in Colac in Victoria. In January 1855 he was informant on the death certificate of my GGGrandfather, William Matthews, he was listed as 'occupant of the deceased's house', and with the occupation of shoemaker. The Wilsons were still in Colac in 1857, listed in the census. (Census in the book, Year of Hope: 1857 in the Colac District, by Dawn Peel.)




Frederick Wilson was 5'4" tall, arms and face freckled, red hair and whiskers, light hazel eyes, single, lost 1 tooth upper jaw. 1835: Public Works 8/7/1842: TOL 22/5/1846: CP 7/1/1844: Married Sarah Lillis, who arrived per Mexborough 1841 under the name of Margaret Scanlon. They had 3 children in Tasmania. 1849: Went to Victoria, where they had 9 more children. Frederick was granted a lease of land in Garvoc. Frederick died at Garvoc from chronic bronchitis and is buried at the Camperdown Cemetery. Sarah died 6/5/1892 from TB and is buried at the Hamilton Cemetery.
