Petition for mitigation of sentence (Fiche 3191; 4/1856 p.297) ---------------------------------------------------- To Governor Macquarie. Memorial of John Ivey Wilson, Dated 12 February 1818, Hobart town. Respectfully sheweth That your Excellency’s memorialist was tried at Derby in the year 1815, sentenced to transportation for fourteen years, arrived at Port Jackson per ship Fanny, Wallace master, and to this colony inhis Majecty’s Brig Emu. That your Excellency’s memorialist is an aged man, having left a wife and five children to lament his absence, ince his arrival in this Colony, has been in the service of Colonel Davey, whose recommendation of Memorialist, he trusts, for that participation of Your Excellency’s Clemency, that may once more restore him to his family.
