MATHEW WILSON, charged with stealing upon the 29th Dec. 9 silk handkerchiefs, and 15 yards of Queen's Cloth, from Francis Gemmill, Paisley, and being habit and repute a thief, plea Guilty, and was sentenced to 14 years' transportation. Mathew was born 1802 or 1804 (different dates given) and was 20 years old on arrival. He was 5’5” tall, brown hair and eyes, scars on forehead, right little finger crippled. 1832: He was a Pound Keeper at Hobart. 14/8/1879: Mathew died at the Newtown Charitable Institution of Dementia, aged 75/76, and was buried at the Cornelian Bay Cemetery, Pauper’s Section.
