Born in Ipswich, Suffolk. De facto partner of Christopher Ingledew (Thomas Arbuthnot 1847). Convicted of robbery with Ingledew, George Reynolds and Thomas Addy (both transported ot Bermuda). Married George Butterworth (Maria Soams 1844) in 1847.
