Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Royal George' arriving 18 Oct 1830. Single man; aged 19 yrs; farmer's cow keeper; 5'5 1/2" height; pale complexion; dk brown hair; Hazel eyes. Native place of birth: St. Michael's, Bath, England. Alias name of "Joseph Castles" noted on convict record. VDL: 1833: assigned to Mr. Thrupp - secreting 3 loaves of bread & absent. 3 mths imprisonment with hard labour. 1836: Ticket of Leave granted. 1840: Free Certificate, no. 244, issued.
