Thomas WILSON was convicted at Durham, England on 29 June 1846 for shop lifting. Previous conviction for stealing, at Gibraltar where he served 6 mths imprisonment. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Cornwall', arriving 11 June 1851. Aged 29yrs; single man; a seaman; 5'5 1/2" height; Church of England; can read & write a little; fair complexion; brown hair; light brown eyes; tattoos. Native place of birth: Hartlepool, UK. Father: John (ref - convict indent record) Brothers: John & William Sister: Anne Colony of VDL: A Passholder on arrival (had served time in England and this later date of transportation) 16 Aug 1851: at Hobart - disturb the peace. fined. 6 March 1852: at Mr. Davidson's, Kangaroo Point - drunk & neglect of duty. Reprimand. 29 June 1852: Ticket of Leave granted. 6 July 1852: Recommended for a Conditional Pardon 10 Nov 1852: at Kangaroo Point - being absent from residence. 10 days solitary confinement. 21 Jan 1854: Certificate of Freedom issued.
