Thomas WILSON was convicted at Kent, England on 10 Dec 1832 for housebreaking. Life sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Emperor Alexander' arriving 12 Aug 1833. Ship surgeon's report: "very clean, respectable man. Acted as Boatswain's Mate on ship". Married man - wife Betsy, 3 children. At native place, Dumfries. Aged 28 yrs; 5'3" height; sallow complexion; brown hair; Hazel eyes. Colony of VDL: Assigned to work services. Numerous notes of misconduct and punishments. Served time in hard labour gangs and Port Arthur Penal Settlement. (Note: conditions were very harsh at these times in the settlement and oversight of convicts) 17 Nov 1843: Ticket of Leave granted.
