Thomas WILSON was convicted at Liverpool, England on 15 Aug 1844 for throwing fluid on a woman, with intent. He had lived with her (Phoebe Cotterill) for 2 yrs and they had a quarrel and stated he threw a bottle of ... on her face. 15 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Mt Stuart Elphinstone' arriving 17 June 1845. Ship Surgeon's report: "bad, flogged on board". Single man; aged 28 yrs; labourer; Protestant; not literate; ruddy complexion; brown hair; blue eyes; stout built; 5'3 3/4" height. Native place of birth: Leeds, England. Father: Stephen (ref. Convict Indent record) Mother: Mary Brother: Peter Sisters: Elizabeth, Anne, Mary & Jane Colony of VDL: 2 yr Probation Period. Several records of misconduct & punishments. 16 March 1852: Ticket of Leave granted. 7 June 1853: Ticket of Leave revoked. 30 Jan 1855: Ticket of Leave restored. 10 Feb 1857: Conditional Pardon approved. 2 June 1847: at Morven (now Evandale) - drunk. 1 mth hard labour.
