Built 1834 at Calcutta. Wood ship of 684 Tons. The 1847/48 voyage sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) BUT also went on to Port Phillip Bay, Victoria where 300 exiles disembarked. (The newspaper source says they were from Millbank, Pentonville & Parkhurst prisons.)

Thomas WILSON was convicted at York, England on 8 March 1845 for Larceny (3rd conviction, although Thomas denied that he had been convicted before). 10 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Marion' arriving 16 Sept 1845. Ship Surgeon's Report: "well behaved". Single man; aged 23yrs; carpenter & joiner; 5'8 3/4"; fresh complexion; dk brown hair; Hazel eyes; Protestant; can read & write. Native Place of birth: Wimbleton, England. Father: Richard (family ref: Convict Indent) Mother: Anne (or Anna) Brothers: John & J.... Sisters: Elizabeth, Sarah, Anne & Mary Colony of VDL: 15 mths Probation Period 1st Station Gang: Rocky Hills 10 Nov 1851: Ticket of Leave granted. 16 March 1852: Ticket of Leave revoked as he was absent from Muster. 21 April 1857: Certificate of Freedom issued.
