The Royal Admiral was built at Lynn in 1828. Convicts were transported to New South Wales on the Royal Admiral in 1830, 1833, 1835 and to Van Diemen's Land in 1842. 1833 - Ship; Royal Admiral. Commenced fitting as a Convict Transport at Deptford on the 29 March. Surgeon Superintendent [Andrew Henderson] joined on the 3rd April. Guard embarked on the 13th. Sailed on the 17th and anchored in Kingston Barbour near Dublin on the 9th May. 220 convicts embarked on the 16 May 1833 and the ship sailed from Dublin Bay for Sydney on the 4th June and arrived there on the 20 October. Originally embarked with 221 convicts, 5 Died at sea, 1 was Relanded. 11 sick on shore, The convicts were described as 220 such wretchedly debilitated creatures ... Family connections for William (Wilson) are: Some amendments added Jul 2025. WILSON William (Wilson alias Jackson) was born about 1762. He was tried at York Assizes, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 7 10 1792 after a voyage of 5months on ROYAL ADMIRAL. He was an emancipist labourer when he married Meale/Amelia (Binam/Bingham her first marriage) on 5 1 1812 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. He died on 6 6 1823 age61 in Sydney & was buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney. [These details taken from this Website] E/Amelia (Bingham) was born, possibly in Manchester Lancashire, about 1785. In 1805 she, as Sarah (Higham/Bingham, was tried at Lancaster Lancashire for stealing & sentenced to 6months gaol. She, Sarah (Higham), was living at Salford when tried for stealing money from Samuel (Lewis) at Manchester Lancaster Quarter Sessions in January 1810, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 29 9 1811 after a voyage of 5months on FRIENDS. She is recorded in 1822 with Anthony (Bri/yan his second relationship). No children are found.
