Per "Indian", 1810; nailor 1819 Dec Petition for mitigation of sentence (Fiche 3202; 4/1860 p.102) ------------------------------------------------------------- The Humble Petition of Thos. Winchurch for an Emancipation most respectfully sheweth, That Petitioner arrived in the Colony in the ship Indian – Barclay, Master in the year 1810, having been tried at Worcester in 1807 and under sentence of Transportation for Life. That Petitioner has been in the Employ of Government now since he arrived in the Colony as a Nailer and trusts that his conduct during this period has been such that he may approach your Excellency for the aforesaid Indulgence. For which mark of your Excellency’s favor, your petitioner as in duty bound will ever pray (Signed) Thomas Winchurch. Sydney Dec 1819. Recommended for a Ticket of Leave.
